Nothing Phone (2a) camera specifications and official wallpapers detailed after hands-on leak

The rumored release of the Nothing Phone (2a) is still a few months away. However, a number of official wallpapers as well as the complete camera specifications for the mid-range smartphone have surfaced online.

Together, Kamila Wojciechowska and SmartPrix have unveiled fresh information regarding the Phone (2a), Nothing's long-rumored comeback to mid-range handsets. The two claim that Nothing is getting ready to release the Phone (2a) in four different versions for Europe (PacmanEEA), India (PacmanIND), Japan (PacmanJPN), and the rest of the globe (Pacman).

It's unknown at this time how, if at all, Nothing will differentiate between these versions from one another. Wojciechowska, according to SmartPrix, has discovered the whole Phone (2a) camera specifications. One the one hand, the Phone (2a) is reported to use the 50 MP, 1/2.76-inch sensor, with 0.64 µm-wide pixels, Samsung ISOCELL S5KJN1 as its ultra-wide-angle camera. For comparison, nothing in the Phone (1) and Phone (2) makes use of the ISOCELL S5KJN1 for the same functions.

Furthermore, there are rumors that the Phone (2a) uses the same front-facing camera sensor as the Phone (2), the Sony IMX615. Because the Phone (1) has the subpar Sony IMX471, the Phone (2a) need to have a superior front-facing camera. Conversely, the Phone (2a) is also oriented to accommodate the ISOCELL GN9, a sensor that is not utilized by the Phone (1) or Phone (2).

Instead, the ISOCELL S5KGN9 remains a Motorola Moto G84 exclusive for now. For context, ISOCELL S5KGN9 outputs at 50 MP with a 1/1.5-inch optical format and 1.0 µm-wide pixels. Based on these specifications, the ISOCELL S5KGN9 should match the IMX766 and IMX890 in the Phone (1) and Phone (2), respectively, in most areas. Incidentally, Wojciechowska and SmartPrix have shared official Phone (2a) wallpapers too, which we have embedded below. Currently, the Phone (2a) is rumoured to arrive in late February during MWC 2024 with a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset and a 6.7-inch OLED display, which an earlier hands-on leak disclosed.
